Activating Your Texas A&M Email Accounts

Introduction

After creating your NetID, you may be eligible for a Texas A&M Email account located at https://email.tamu.edu/.  To be eligible, you must be:

  • A faculty member

  • A currently enrolled student

  • A staff member whose department has an agreement to provide a Texas A&M Email account

There are two email addresses associated with your Net ID username: "YourNetID@tamu.edu" and "YourNetID@email.tamu.edu."

your_netid@tamu.edu

This email address is only a forwarding address. Messages sent to this address will be forwarded to the account of your choosing, which can be edited on the Aggie Account Gateway Email Settings page.

your_netid@email.tamu.edu

This email address is the actual Texas A&M Email mailbox, and messages sent to this address will be delivered to your Texas A&M Email account. 

If you are a staff/faculty member and are eligible for a Texas A&M Email mailbox, you can activate the account by following the steps below. 

1.   Go to the Aggie Computing Gateway and click on the Email Settings tab.

2.   Log in with your NetID and your Net ID password.

3.   In the Texas A&M Email account status section, select I want email sent to NetID@email.tamu.edu to be stored in a Texas A&M Email account..

Note: If this option is not available to you, you are not eligible for a Neo email account.

4.   Click Save.
