Activating/Creating a NetID

Your NetID is your Central Authentication System username and is needed to access many university resources.

"Activating" your NetID is the same as creating or claiming your NetID. This means that prior to activating your NetID, you do not have a NetID.

Activating/Creating your NetID

The following information is needed to set up your NetID:

  • UIN: your Universal Identification Number (UIN)
  • Date of Birth: your Date of Birth (MM/DD/YYYY)

To activate the NetID:

  1. Open a web browser and go to

  2. Enter your Universal Identification Number (UIN) and Date of Birth (MM/DD/YYYY). Click LOGIN [fig. 02].Note: If you receive the error message "The account is already activated" [fig. 03], then your NetID has already been activated. If you do not remember or do not know your NetID, please contact Help Desk Central at 979.845.8300 with your UIN. They can identify your NetID and help you reset your NetID password.

  3. On the next screen, enter your NetID and your password and click Submit.
    Note: Read the information about the characters allowed for your NetID and password on the application screen. Please note that all NetIDs are lowercase.

  4. Your Password must be at least eight (8) and at most thirty-two (32) characters long. Your password must contain at least one (1) number or special character. Your password must contain at least one (1) uppercase and at least one (1) lowercase character. Your password must contain only the following characters: a-z, A-Z, 0-9, `~!#%^&*()-_=+[{]}\|:',<.>?/@$;
