Requesting a News Feed
Document ID 107
The TAMU newsgroups exist to facilitate discussion of topics related to Texas A&M University. There are many other news hierarchies and groups that offer forums for general discussion. These [tamu.*] newsgroups focus on the needs of the students, faculty, and staff here at Texas A&M.
Our news hierarchy is a local interest discussion area for the specific purpose of serving our university. With this goal in mind and following Usenet News conventions regarding local interest hierarchies, we have chosen to limit the distribution of our hierarchy to these entities:
The main campus of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas
Other affiliated campuses within the Texas A&M University System
Internet service providers in the Bryan/College Station area
Other organizations with a direct relationship to Texas A&M University
If you meet the above criteria and would like to carry the "tamu.*" news hierarchy on your news server, please send a note to firstname.lastname@example.org requesting a feed.
Note: We prefer that people get our hierarchy directly from us. If you are receiving a "tamu.*" feed from us, we ask that you not pass it along to any of your other newsfeeds. If someone specifically requests it from you, please refer them to information on being a Usenet peer with news.tamu.edu.
All [tamu.*] newgroup and rmgroup will be signed with the TAMU News Admin PGP Key. If you are using any INN variant, we highly recommend you install PGP and configure your news server to verify "tamu.*" control messages.
If you have any further questions, please email email@example.com or call us at 979.845.8300.
